PREORDER MOUNT WITTENBERG ORCA — A 7-SONG COLLABORATIVE EFFORT BY BJöRK & DIRTY PROJECTORS
When Brooklyn’s Dirty Projectors performed a benefit show with Björk, the result was an enchanting vocal symphony so full of eccentric harmony, inventive guitar work, and whimsical storytelling that the worldwide hipster web couldn’t help but blog, forward, and embed the bejeezus out of the YouTube footage. Well kiddies, soon enough, you’ll be able to get your fix of David Longstreth and Björk in glorious stereo anytime, anywhere. The indie-elite crew have gone to the studio to record the songs which Longstreth wrote especially for their Housing Works benefit show — a mini-opera of sorts which recounts the true story of Amber (of the Projectors) walking along a ridge at Mount Wittenberg on the Northern California coast and spotting a family of whales cavorting in the distance. And when it comes to performing songs which are sung from the perspectives of both whale observer and the whales, I can’t think of a better bunch of artists for the job.
