UNKLE Returns with “War Stories” and Video
British electronica outfit UNKLE will release their third album,
War Stories, on July 24 in the U.S. The album is the follow-up to 2003’s
Never, Never, Land and is the debut release of UNKLE member James Lavelle’s new label Surrender All.
Like the group’s previous albums,
War Stories will feature a host of guest artists. Vocalists who’ve lent their talents include Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), The Duke Spirit, 3D (Massive Attack), Autolux, Gavin Clark (Clayhill) and Richard File. Ian Astbury (The Cult) appears on “Burn My Shadow,” the album’s first single. Watch the video for “Burn My Shadow”
here. TV fans may wish to know the video stars
ER’s Goran Visnjic.
Unique among UNKLE’s albums,
War Stories relies mostly on live instrumentation. The group called on friends such as Marilyn Manson’s Twiggy Ramirez (bass), Psychonauts’ Pablo Clements (synths), Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws (guitar) and others to help flesh out the songs.
UNKLE commissioned 3D of Massive Attack to create a stunning set of paintings to adorn the CD’s packaging. The CD booklet will also come packed with photos of the band and the Joshua Tree desert, where much of the album was recorded.
War Stories’ track list includes
: 1. Intro
2. Chemistry
3. Hold My Hand
4. Restless (feat. Josh Homme)
