Voting begins for CMT Music Awards

The first round of nominations are in: the artists leading the 2007 CMT Music Awards are Carrie Underwood, Dixie Chicks, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, and Kenny Chesney with three nods apiece. Country Music Television's annual awards show is the genre's only fan-voted competition, according to CMT. It honors fans' choice for the best country music videos of the year.
In addition to the eight categories listed below, The Johnny Cash Visionary Award will be presented to one act to recognize musical vision, innovative and groundbreaking videos, and pioneering initiatives in entertainment.
In the first round of voting, happening now, fans cast their ballots on CMT's website to choose the final four of eight nominees in each category. The finalists will be announced Feb. 28, after which time final-round voting begins.
The winners will be announced April 16 during the awards ceremony at Nashville's Curb Event Center. Country comedian Jeff Foxworthy will host the show for the third consecutive year.
