music) has announced a slew of new dates for 2007 as she continues to aggressively back her third studio set, last year's
Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter's early year schedule is shaping up to be a mix of standard headlining dates and isolated one-off performances, kicking off with a two-night engagement in Anaheim, CA, beginning Jan. 31.
In December, Arie picked up three more Grammy nominations (bringing her lifetime total to 12), including one for Best R&B Album, for her current disc.
Released last June,
Testimony is Arie's first new collection since 2002's
Voyage to India. The new disc, which was produced by longtime collaborators Shannon Sanders and Mark Batson (Seal, Beyonce), moved about 161,000 copies during its first week in stores, enough to debut in the No. 1 slot on The Billboard 200 chart.
Last August,
Testimony was certified gold, signifying US shipment of 500,000 copies; simultaneously,
Voyage to India was certified platinum for shipping 1 million copies.
Arie broke through on the music scene in 2001 with her platinum-plus debut,
Acoustic Soul, which earned her seven Grammy nominations. Though she didn't win any of the categories for which she was nominated, she picked up four more nominations for
Voyage to India, and walked away with two trophies.
